French Vanilla Tea Dulce de Leche
Not only is tea great for drinking but did you know that tea is also a great ingredient for cooking. Today we have a really tasty recipe for all those with a sweet tooth. If you’re anything like me then you probably are a big fan of desserts and that’s what we have today. Dulce de Leche is a confection prepared by slowly heating sweetened milk to create a substance that derives its taste from the Maillard reaction, changing flavor and color. It literally means “candy of milk” or “sweet of milk”. It is popular in places like Spain, Portugal and also South America. You can use Dulce de Leche as a syrup on your pancakes or toast in the morning or add it to some ice cream to give an extra hint of sweetness. So how do we make this delicious treat?
- 6 Grams – Victory Tea Company’s French Vanilla Black Tea
- 1 Cup – Sugar
- 1 Cup – Heavy Cream
Bring 2 cups water to a boil in a 3-qt. heavy saucepan
Remove from heat; cover and steep 6 grams of French Vanilla Tea for 10 minutes.
Remove the tea. Add sugar, stirring until dissolved.
Bring tea mixture to a boil over medium-high heat and cook, stirring occasionally, 10 more minutes or until mixture turns amber brown and reduces to a honey-like consistency.
Gradually add cream, and cook, stirring constantly, 1 to 2 minutes or until smooth. (Mixture will be very thin.)
Cool completely (about 30 minutes).
Cover and chill 24 hours. (After chilling, mixture will have the consistency of heavy cream.)
